[…] One of the most frustrating things about watching UGC (end-user generated content) is that it’s mainly entertainment, self-based vanity self publishing.  Not that I have a problem with navel gazing, but its doing something to help others - that really matters. […]

Very well done. I would like to know what videocam was used as it is quite a good quality picture. This tells a wonderful story and informs the viewer in moments.

Vincent - 01/03/2007 07:07:36

Well done! It was really interesting to hear him speak at length about his profession without patronizing edited sound bites. I’ll be back for more - vincent

Nive - 01/04/2007 01:41:12

Thanks for all the encouragement folks ! Its great to know that folks are actually watching these and appreciating them ;-)

Will get back regarding the camera make and model. We have 3 cameras and they are with the boys who are currently in Bombay (Mumbai) recording some new stuff.

Keep in touch !

This is great video. I love these pieces that show a slice of someone’s life. WOuld be great to see shots of his “other” life: his private life, where and how people like him live. Great work!

This is simply great. I hope you people will help the world to see the actual, real India , rather than what mainstream media choose to show.

Good luck.

Carl Weaver - 01/06/2007 18:29:21

Very interesting. I like this video a lot - great job and thanks!

Sapna - 01/07/2007 00:23:16

Interesting. Even I as an Indian learned something new… I liked the traffic videos as book-ends and the easily readable subtitles.

daneel - 01/07/2007 07:39:16

Wierd how “nai” in Tamil (a South Indian language) means Dog. We had a good laugh in Hindi class when we learnt this word.

Nive - 01/07/2007 23:32:48

Great to get all the encouragement! Thanks ;-) )

If anyone has any ideas of what they would specifically like to see videos of - please let us know - and we will try and make it happen.

Let’s Visit Asia - Swajana: Life in India, on Video - 01/31/2007 03:20:10

[…] And that’s why I love Swajana. As of writing they have 6 videos on archive, featuring people, events and scenes in everyday life in India. I especially love those videos they did on Nai, A Pavement Barber, Pottery, and the Flower Maiden (can you tell I find people stories most amazing?). All videos were professionally shot and edited, I almost feel guilty watching them for free. […]
